Pelota

An unusual seating piece in wood. In this project I was exploring the material properties of wooden seating piece no bigger than 50x50x50 cm, which was also the name of the course led by Mikkel Sommerschield Jøranstaad at AHO.

The stool stands up with the help from a steel ballast placed inside the structure. Pelota is therefore an interactive piece that explores shape, materials and physics in a fun and compelling way. The curvature in the wood shows the growth rings in the birch wood.

*Nominated for AHO Works 2025 in the category Aesthetics & Material Exploration*
